Research Area: Dr. Nancy Terryn obtained a Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology in the field of signal transduction at Ghent University in 1994. Since 1992 she is a scientific collaborator at the Department of Molecular Genetics at Ghent University where she was heading the research team that collaborated on an international level to unravel the Arabidopsis genome sequence. At the same Department she joined the Institute of Plant Biotechnology for Developing Countries since its foundation in 2000 where she has been implicated as a senior scientist in several research projects such as transformation and nutritional amelioration of grain legumes (Phaseolus), and biodiversity studies with the use of molecular markers. Amongst current research projects at which she is involved, is the functional genomic analysis of artemisinin production.
