Research Area: Prof. Dr. Marcelle Holsters obtained a PhD in Zoology in 1976. Subsequently she became a research assistant, research associate and director of the National Fund for Scientific Research (Belgium) at the Laboratory of Genetics (Ghent University, Belgium). Since 1997 she holds a position as Full Professor (Molecular Genetics) at Ghent University. She is heading a research team that investigates the signaling of nodule formation and nodule functioning and senescence in Medicago truncatula and Sesbania rostrata and the molecular mechanism of the phytopathogen Rhodococcus fascians.
